TATAMI
This collection is inspired by the design of woven grasses in traditional tatami mats. I hand carve each vessel with a serie of individual marks, not seeking perfection in the marking. Yet, each one contributes to a sense of harmony in the overall rhythm of the marking pattern. This balance between the irregular and the regular creates a tactile surface that invites touch, while fostering tranquillity and introspection. Glazing is more controlled in this collection. The carving is deliberately left apparent or unglazed, with a neat transition with the glazed inside, to further highlight the contrast between the earthy colours of the clay and the delicate and tactile aspect of the piece.

All my products are handmade in my Greenwich garden studio. My glazes and slips are my own personal recipes. They are applied by either pouring, dipping or brushing. Movement is often added so that they cover the piece with various drips, transparencies and even cracks sometime. "Happy" accidents are welcomed and in my opinion, are inherent to handmade products.
Each piece is unique and when a piece is offered as a small batch or within a collection, small variations among the pieces of a same set are to be expected.
